Pre-disturbance Environmental Site Assessments (ESA’s) and Reconnaissance Surveys provide a baseline for future remediation and reclamation projects.
Phase I ESA’s gather site history and activity data from records, photographs and personnel interviews to determine existing infrastructure and any potential environmental impacts.
Phase II ESA’s confirm the presence of environmental impacts and identify any contaminants present. A Phase II investigation ranges from simple identification to the delineation of substances of concern.
Detailed Site Assessments (DSA’s) evaluate parameters such as soil depths and properties, vegetative growth and health, weeds and landscape parameters such as drainage, contours and rocks on the site to confirm that reclamation activities on the site meet the regulatory criteria. The results of the DSA’s are summarized in a report, and a Reclamation Certificate Application containing all pertinent background information is prepared.
Post-Construction Reclamation Assessments (PCRA’s) are conducted on Class I pipelines in compliance with C&R Approvals. Soil depths and properties, vegetative growth and health, weeds and landscape parameter are evaluated to confirm that reclamation activities along the pipeline meet the regulatory criteria. Reclamation issues related to pipeline construction activity such as subsidence, crowning, compaction, admixing and rutting are also identified. Field observations along with recommended mitigative measures are summarized and presented in a comprehensive report.

All reclamation activities, from planning to implementation, are focused to bring disturbed lands back to their equivalent land-use capabilities.
